O Lord, Thy wondrous story<br \/>\nOur inmost soul doth move,<br \/>\nAnd, ending in the glory,<br \/>\nWe trace Thy path of love.<\/p>\n<p>2. No eye was found to pity,<br \/>\nNo heart to bear Thy woe,<br \/>\nBut shame, and scorn, and spitting:<br \/>\nNone cared Thy Name to know.<\/p>\n<p>3. O day of greatest sorrow,<br \/>\nDay of unfathomed grief!<br \/>\nWhen Thou didst taste the horror<br \/>\nOf wrath without relief.<\/p>\n<p>4. Thus, with all grief acquainted,<br \/>\nBlest Man of sorrows here,<br \/>\nThy love, by ill untainted,<br \/>\nTo death Thy feet did bear.<\/p>\n<p>5. In death, obedience yielding<br \/>\nTo God Thy Father&#8217;s will,<br \/>\nLove still its power was wielding<br \/>\nTo meet all human ill.<\/p>\n<p>6. But, O divine Sojourner,<br \/>\nMidst man&#8217;s unfathomed ill,<br \/>\nLove that made Thee a mourner,<br \/>\nIt is not man&#8217;s to tell!<\/p>\n<p>7. We worship when we see Thee<br \/>\nIn all Thy sorrowing path;<br \/>\nWe long soon to be with Thee<br \/>\nWho bore for us the wrath!<\/p>\n<p>8. Come then, expected Saviour;<br \/>\nThou Man of sorrows, Come!<br \/>\nAlmighty, blest Deliv&#8217;rer,<br \/>\nAnd take us to Thee &#8211; home.<\/p>\n<p>J. N.
